Shoe-shop “Sapozhok”

Zone E - This is one of the most busy places in the city where three streets meet: Proletarskaya, Uritskogo and Gorky Streets. Before the revolution Proletarskaya and Uritskogo streets were named Ivanovskaya and Pesterevskaya, accordingly, after distinguished merchants living there. They formed a single trade route of the city connecting market squares Ivanovskaya and Arsenalskaya. All the way from the flee market at the Ivanovskaya square to the bakery market at the Arsenalskaya square the streets were decorated with ads of large and small shops, kiosks and workshops. Uritskogo Street in the present day Irkutsk has preserved its function of a trade street whereas Proletarskaya street had lost this function in the soviet period and only lately shops and kiosks has appeared here.
